Gale of Waterdeep

Gale is a mid-thirties academic. He has shoulder length brown hair with streaks of grey, brown eyes, a short beard, and tends to dress in neat wizardly robes. One ear holds an earring with an eight pointed star, and he has what looks like a purple tattoo that begins in the middle of his chest and crawls around up his neck towards his left eye. It looks a little like a stylised meteor, if anything, a circle with a fiery trail. He is usually clean and well presented, as he has a little insecurity about his appearance. Gale is an academic, and as such loves to learn and loves to explain! This sometimes comes across a touch patronising, but most of the time he doesn't really mean to be rude. Unless the topic is magic, in which case Gale tends to presume he knows more than most people. He's stubborn, sensitive, self-righteous, but very caring about his friends. Gale likes to give second chances where he can, he can be judgemental but is quick to regret that when proven wrong, and isn't afraid to say he's proud of his friends! He has a martyr complex, and something of a victim complex, and can definitely be petty -- but overall he's someone who means well. Gale is a washed up child prodigy who wants to regain what he once had. He was a the Chosen of Mystra, Goddess of Magic, and was educated at Blackstaff Academy where he excelled and was something of a show-off. Eventually, he became the lover of Mystra. Once he hit the limits of what magic Mystra would allow him to learn, Gale attempted to prove himself to her and ended up binding himself to dangerous magic -- causing her to cast him aside instead. That dangerous magic, a piece of the Karsite Weave, eats at Gale's own magical ability and is at risk of causing a significant explosion should it not be managed.
